Target Dress (similar here, here and here, and I love this one for Valentine's Day too) // Free People Scarf // Stuart Weitzman Lowland Boots // Tory Burch Bag (almost identical here, and similar more affordable option here) // Banana Republic Necklace (similar here and here)
Ohhh Valentine's Day. It's either dreaded or anticipated. For me, it's neither really. Honestly, I used to love Valentine's Day more when I was in elementary school. We got to make pretty little boxes that would sit on our desks all week, and we'd all secretly drop our Valentines into our friends' boxes when no one was looking. Every day, the anticipation of checking your box to see how many cards and candies you received was elating! It wasn't until I got to high school that I realized Valentine's Day is a "Hallmark Holiday" that doesn't really hold a lot of meaning, and as a teenager, if you weren't with someone, Valentine's Day kind of... well... sucked. I'm all for showing love EVERY day, whether that's toward your partner, your parents, your siblings or your girlfriends. I'll admit, some of my favorite Valentines evenings were spent single, drinking wine with a couple of my closest gals, dishing on life! Now that I'm married, we don't really treat the day with any sort of reverie, but we will use it as an excuse to cook a nice dinner at home. No way are we battling the restaurant crowds! We don't do gifts (well, except for that one time I surprised him with boudoir photos, but that's a whole 'nother Oprah), rather, we will share an experience or a memory. This year, for instance, we will be spending Valentine's weekend at Mount Princeton Hot Springs in Nathrop, CO for some R&R. I am so looking forward to relaxing in the naturally heated pools, doing some yoga and maybe getting a massage. What are your plans for Valentine's Day? Do you love it? Hate it? Indifferent? xoxo
I love this dress because you can warm it up with tights and boots, or transition into spring with bare legs and either sandals or heels. Pop a cute denim jacket over it to make it more casual and work appropriate, or put a long camel coat over it for a glam yet sophisticated look. I've linked some similar options above, as this one is unfortunately sold out at Target.
