Thanks, Champagne!

This year, I will be spending NYE on a beach in Mexico, probably sipping margaritas or Coronas (maybe both, simultaneously, I have two hands) in a bikini by the pool with my one and only. That was a lot of prepositions. While I am thrilled that this is my plan, a teeny tiny part of me is a bit remiss that I will not get to put together a sparkly outfit for the ball drop. So, I am living vicariously through everyone else and through this blog post. If you're looking to wow that special someone this year (that special someone could be YOU), here are a few dazzling options to consider. I hope you have a safe and wonderful final evening of 2015, and an even better start to the new year. Tag me on Instagram @makingmichaela if you heed any of my sparkly advice! And if you didn't catch my "Thanks, Champagne" reference, please watch this SNL clip featuring JT for a hearty belly laugh. (NSFW)

This dress screams NYE. Is it not stunning? It looks like an art deco mosaic or a stained glass window. I love that it has long sleeves but still reveals some sexy stems. If you love your legs but not your arms, this is the way to go. Pair this with some black or silver strappy heels like these or these.

From the velvet material to the oxblood color to the stunning asymmetrical neckline and drape, this dress is GLAM. It feels like a modern day, more understated Jessica Rabbit if you ask me. I would wear this to a fancy NYE dinner or a cocktail party, or heck, around my living room. Plus, it's on sale for around $60. I wouldn't lie to you. While this dress doesn't need a lot of accessories, I think you could really amp it up with this necklace. Or, if you wanted to let the neckline speak for itself, try these earrings.

If you're looking for a LBD with a twist, look no further. The neck detail on this dress is gorgeous, plus it eliminates one piece of jewelry! All you'd need with this dress are some fun bangles like these and some metallic heels like these (how cute is that feather pom pom?) to tie it all together. This would also look killer with some black booties, like these.

Speaking of LBDs, this one would definitely stand out from the rest. The fringe is perfection for a night of dancing - the movement! I would be shaking my tailfeather all night long in this dress. The low back is a sexy detail and the halter neckline shows off toned arms. I would pair this with some drop earrings, some loosely swept up hair (maybe even opt for these hair pins instead of earrings) and THESE SHOES. OHHHH, THESE SHOES. Zara's shoe game is always on point. Also adore this funky pair.

Have a more formal NYE party on the books? Lucky you! If you're like me and don't get invited to a lot of formal events, why pay a lot of money for something that you might only wear once? Try Rent the Runway. You get to wear a DESIGNER DRESS for a fraction of the cost and feel like a movie star for a night. This dress is stunning, thanks to the color, the sequins and the flattering neckline and sleeve detailing. Pair it with these statement earrings and you will OWN 2016 from the very first minute.

I saw this skirt in Free People the other day and swooned. You can wear it so many different ways. I would honestly pair this with a white tee (these from Everlane are my favorite) or even a graphic tee (could be fitting to wear this KISS tee at midnight, just saying), but if you want to glam it up, you could wear it with a crop top (on sale!) or even a lace bodysuit underneath. Turn up the sparkle factor even more with some sequins and you are a walking disco ball, and on NYE, that is a compliment.

If a slinky dress isn't your bag, try some faux leather leggings topped with a mini dress for a comfortable and more covered up NYE option. If you can't stand heels, this would also look great with some booties or some colorful flats. LEGGINGS | SWING DRESS | HEELS | CLUTCH | EARRINGS
